Hi Sue-
I have been reading your book Supervisor Q & A. I was recently promoted to current position of shift supervisor. A coworker of mine suggested your book. I just thought I would let you know I find it very insightful and helpful. I think it truly reflects what happens in the dispatch center. I also understand you have an online newsletter. Can I please be put on this email list? I would really appreciate that. Thanks!

Actually the term Winging It has nothing to do with butterflies or airplanes. It comes from the theatre where actors either had to go to the wings to regroup and study their lines for the performance - or had someone in the wings prompting them. In other words, doing the work without having the advantage of full preparation.
But we like the butterfly image too - many supervisors feel like they must spread their wings. Read below just a few of the 60+ questions we work with in this very inspiring book. Sue believes in people and has great answers to tough questions.
Q. Sometimes I feel like I have pressure from both sides and I'm not sure what my role is here. It's frustrating and I'm not sure where I fit?
Q. I'm not sure I am a leader, what does it take to be a great leader?
There are 50+ questions like these with supportive, inspiring answers that ring of common sense.
Q. I can see so many things that need to change that often I get disappointed. How can I keep from getting disappointed by the people that just don' care?
Q. There is the leader I want to be, then there is the leader that I try to be but sometimes I just don't feel adequate. I know a leader needs to be confident, what can I do to appear more confident when I'm not?
Q. The Supervisor before me was lazy and useless. People don't seem to cooperate with me because of him. What can I do to create a new atmosphere between us?'
Q. How do I establish the line between supervisor and friend?
Q. We don't have enough supervisors and the person who is supposed to be our leader isn't really connected to us and doesn't understand our needs? Does having a connected leader make that much difference in an organization?
Q. I am exhausting myself with this supervisor position. How can I do everything I need to do and still stay in touch with everyone too?
Q. It seems like there are so many different demands from people and for things to get done. How can I look at all this in a more positive light?
